Volunteers and nature enthusiasts! We are excited to announce the 38th Annual Russian River Watershed Cleanup on Saturday, September 21st, 2024, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. This annual event brings together people of all ages and backgrounds who care deeply about the environment and want to make a difference.
The cleanup will take place at the Geyserville Bridge, where we will meet and check in on the southwest corner of Highway 128. Parking is available nearby, so please plan accordingly. The route we’ll be covering involves moderate walking with some foliage, making it accessible for most people.
To ensure your safety and convenience, all the necessary equipment, including gloves, trash grabbers, and bags to make the cleanup process as smooth as possible. As a token of appreciation for your commitment to our cause, there will be special gifts to volunteers!
During the event, you can choose from various beach walking routes depending on the location of trash accumulations. While we have supplies available at the registration, we encourage you to bring gloves, water, a hat, and other personal items if you prefer.
The Russian River Watershed Cleanup plays a vital role in maintaining the health and well-being of our local ecosystem by removing litter before it washes downstream during winter rains and ends up in the ocean. As many of you know, the Pacific Garbage Patch has reached alarming proportions – nearly twice the size of Texas! – and we are determined to do our part in addressing this pressing environmental issue.
So, mark your calendars, invite your friends and family, and come join us this September for a fun, meaningful day of community service. Together, we can make a difference in preserving the beauty and health of the Russian River and our oceans. See you there!
