About Us

The mission of the Geyserville Planning Committee (GPC) is to be the collaborative voice empowering the Geyserville community in advising the County, agencies, and local stakeholders on land use decisions; promoting sustainable and inclusive development that protects our rural heritage; and enhancing the quality of life for all residents.

The vision of the GPC is to act as the Geyserville public forum and inclusive meeting space where all community members are welcome and encouraged to share views, be informed with vetted information, and actively participate in transparent processes shaping our town.

  • The GPC has existed for about 44 years and is the only organization where members are elected by all Geyserville residents at the annual town hall meeting to represent the community.
  • The GPC is an organization that is independent from the County
  • The GPC represents all of Geyserville’s residents and looks forward to working with and promoting all local organizations for the betterment of the Geyserville community.
  • The GPC is made up of a diverse group of Geyserville residents.

How do we work with the rest of Sonoma County?

Our 1983 agreement with the County of Sonoma gives the GPC the authority to collect and disseminate statistics and other information, conduct investigations, engage in funding and fundraising activities, acting as an advisory and coordinating body in matters concerning community development.  The GPC collaborates with the school district, community groups, government agencies, and not-for-profit organizations to give a unified voice to our town. We have received financial support from Corazon Healdsburg, the office of 4th District Supervisor James Gore, local businesses, and citizens.  We have a mutually supportive relationship with community partners with the shared goal of creating positive and long-lasting impact for Geyserville.

Community inclusion and outreach are first and foremost in the mandate of the GPC.  Our website, e-blasts, social media posts, and community-wide postings are some of the tools we use to connect. Active Participation is the lifeblood of a healthy community, and we value input.
