Where We Have Been
Thank you to everyone who has taken part in shaping the vision for Sonoma County’s future. This past summer, the Board of Supervisors reviewed the draft Vision and Guiding Principles, which reflect what we’ve heard from the community about local values, priorities, and hopes for the future. You can view the August 12 Board materials and presentation here.
What’s Happening Now?
We’re getting ready kick off the next stage of the project – translating the community’s vision into goals, policies, and actions to guide our future. This next stage is expected to take about three years, and we look forward to working with you throughout the process, just as we did over the past year.
After a broad search for experts to support the planning team, the Board of Supervisors authorized a contract with PlaceWorks, the same consultant that supported the initial Visioning process.
Permit Sonoma and PlaceWorks will work together to develop an existing conditions report to inform the General Plan Update. As with the Visioning process, we are also preparing a community engagement plan to ensure upcoming engagement is equitable, inclusive and accessible to all. The draft engagement plan will be available for public review and input this spring.
Share Your Feedback
We’re continuing to seek input on the draft Vision and Guiding Principles. If you have comments or suggestions, please email them to us at GeneralPlan@SonomaCounty.gov. The final document will be brought back to the Board of Supervisors in the spring, along with the new community engagement plan.
